The strategic planning session took place June 11, 2022 at the Ulnooweg Indigenous Foundation Offices. The following changes were adopted:

Build on the strengths and assets of rural Nova Scotia by convening, stimulating generosity, establishing giving, growing an endowment, and granting funds to create diverse, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable communities.
The Vision
All people live within diverse, healthy, sustainable, and prosperous environments!
The Values
RCFNS values rural people and the important contributions they make.
RCFNS is accountable to community members including donors and grantees,
RCFNS values diversity, equity inclusion and environmental stewardship
RCFNS values positive leadership and responsible innovation.
RCFNS values learning, acknowledging, and understanding more about reconciliation and the decolonialization of wealth.
RCFNS values recognizing marginalized people and the contribution they make.
Our Impact
The Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia supports community-based initiatives in rural Nova Scotia which:
improves understanding of issues facing rural people.
convenes people to find local solutions to problems and challenges.
supports, enhances, and sustains rural environments.
fosters leadership, equity, gender-equality, and environmental stewardship.

In Addition to Goal #5 and Goal #13 RCFNS will add:
Goal #11- Sustainable Cities and Communities – In response to the housing crisis felt across Nova Scotia
Goal #2 – Zero Hunger – In response to rising food costs in Nova Scotia
Goal #10 – Reduce Inequalities – In response to changes made to RCFNS Policies through the following targets:
10.3 Ensure equal opportunity and reduce inequalities of outcome, including by eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices and promoting appropriate
legislation, policies and action in this regard
10.4 Adopt policies, especially fiscal, wage and social protection policies, and progressively achieve greater equality

Education:
-Board Education opportunities through speakers and webinars
-Community education by making information and webinars available on RCFNS web site
Fund Development – The fund development committee will work to find and foster generosity and giving from individuals, corporations and within the community.
Operations – Policies, Web Site, Grant Application forms, Marketing, Agendas, and all front facing information will reflect RCFNS’s Goals and Commitments.
Actions Report: A report be created to follow up on how the actions are progressing within RCFNS.
