Secretary-Dana Decent
Dana (she/her) has a background in climate change and sustainability and has worked across many sectors to advance a more just, sustainable and collaborative world. Dana works in philanthropy as the Program Director of Climate and Health at Definity Foundation, advancing collaborations that address the root causes and impacts of inequalities. Previously she worked as the Director of Partnerships at Community Foundations of Canada leading meaningful partnerships and sustainability efforts (2019- 2023), and as Manager of the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo (2016- 2019), leading both operations and climate change and health research. Dana has an M.E.S. in Sustainability Management and a B.E.S. in Environment and Business from the University of Waterloo. She has been recognized as a Clean50 Emerging Leader (2018), named the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association Leader of the Year (2017) and Corporate Knights’ Top 30 Under 30 (2016) and received the St. Paul’s Young Alumni Award (2016).
In her spare time, Dana can be found reading, gardening, hiking and kayaking in her home near Kjipuktuk (Halifax) with her wife Tania and pup Taco.
